[영상] 5.18 미공개 영상에 포착된 계엄군의 미소(2018년-38주년)

5.18 민주화운동 38주년을 앞두고 5·18민주화운동기록관이 9일 5.18 미공개 영상 일부를 공개한 가운데, 시위 진압 후 계엄군 지휘자들이 미소를 짓는 모습이 주목을 받았다.

영상에는 헬기에서 내린 주영복 당시 국방장관 등 신군부의 주요 인사들이 어깨를 두드리며 악수를 하자 진압 책임자였던 소준열 사령관의 입가에 웃음이 번지는 모습이 담겼다. 영상을 접한 누리꾼들은 “오싹하다”, “소름이 돋는다”라는 반응을 보였다.
또 영상에는 도청 앞 집단 발포 전 계엄군과 시위대의 대치 모습뿐만 아니라 영안실과 시신 운구 등 5.18 항쟁 당시 광주의 참혹한 상황들이 고스란히 담겼다.

5.18민주화운동기록관 측은 “외곽 봉쇄 등의 상황을 담고 있고 망월 묘역 등 새로운 영상도 확인돼 연구와 교육용으로 자료 가치가 크다”며 “5.18 미공개 영상 자료에 대한 정보와 인물, 장소 등에 대해 시민제보를 받아 다음 달부터 본격적인 확인 작업을 벌일 예정”이라고 밝혔다.

누구 할 것 없이 때리고 진압하는 군인들의 모습을 보며 너무 두려웠을텐데 민주주의를 위해 나서셨다는게 본받아야할 정신이라고 생각합니다. 감사합니다. 그 분들이 아니었다면 우리는 지금 여전히 독재정권에 시달리고 있을지도 모릅니다.
