5.18 광주 민주화운동 41주년을 맞아 광주와 서울에서 동시에 기념식이 열렸습니다.

민주주의를 향한 뜨거운 열망으로 독재에 항거한 광주를 떠올릴 때 유난히 마음이 쓰이는 한 나라가 있습니다. 바로 군사 쿠데타에 맞서고 있는 미얀마입니다.

김부겸 총리는 오늘(18일) 광주 5·18민주묘지에서 열린 기념식에서 미얀마를 언급하며 '5.18 정신'으로 승리하길 바란다고 마음을 전했습니다.

서울에서 열린 기념식엔 미얀마 한국 대표가 연단에 올랐습니다. 심각한 미얀마의 상황을 전하며 지지와 연대를 호소했습니다. 참석자들은 연대의 뜻을 담아 세 손가락을 치켜들었습니다.

문재인 대통령도 SNS를 통해 전한 5.18 기념사에서 미얀마를 잊지 않았습니다. 문 대통령은 "우리는 오늘 미얀마에서 어제의 광주를 본다"고 말했습니다.

5.18로 이어진 광주와 미얀마, 오늘의 여심야심입니다.

저는 목포 사람입니다. 저희 아버지 또한 목포사람입니다. 5.18 민주화 항쟁 당시 저희 아버지는 고등학생이셨습니다. 광주와 정말 가까운 위치임에도 불구하고 저희 아버지는 제대로 밝혀지지 전까지 폭동으로 알고 계셨다고 합니다. 하지만 지금 우리는 폭동이 아닌 것을,우리가 지금 이렇게 살 수 있게 만들어준 것을 인지하고 있기에 잊지 말아야 합니다. 거기선 편히 쉬세요.

그 시대에 태어나지 못한 저는 영상으로 밖에 이 사건을 보지 못했습니다.하지만 영상이나 글로도 충분히 상황이 끔찍하다고 생각됩니다. 용기있는 시민분들 덕분에 지금의 대한민국이 있다고 생각합니다. 우리나라를 목숨을 바쳐 발전시켜 주신 여러분 감사합니다.
